It is very frustrating to see headings as the last line on a page, or referred to and then displayed on the following page. This can easily be prevented with one click.

There are four different advanced page layout commands and you should be aware of how they relate to one another.

Follow the steps below to learn how:

In Word versions 97-2003, click on Format | Paragraph.

In Word 2007 Click on ALT + H for Home and the Paragraph Group.)

Click the Line and Page Breaks tab.

The first four options are the ones that you should consider:

Keep with next – keeps both the selected paragraph(s) and the one that follows it on the same page You should use this command with headings or paragraphs followed by images. Be careful not to use it with too many consecutive paragraphs or your paragraphs could be laid out in an unpredictable manner.

Keep lines together – keeps all the selected paragraph(s) on one page instead of allowing the selection to divide between pages.

Page break before – sets the selected paragraph(s) to start at the top of a new page.

Widow/Orphan Control – this option is checked by default in Word. It prevents a Word document from splitting a paragraph such that a single line appears at the beginning or end of a page.
You should have the last setting on always.

The XPS Document Writer allows you to create .xps files using any program that you run on Windows. XPS documents look the same in print as they do on the screen. They are portable, like any other file that you can e–mail or transfer using a CD, DVD, universal serial bus (USB) drive, or network connection. They are also easy to share because you can view them on any computer where an XPS viewer is installed, even if the computer does not have the same programs that you used to create the original documents.

It returns me mess code when using Adobe printer to print the XPS file in IE browser.

Don’t worry, we can use a small tool gxps.exe to convert the XPS to PDF file.
gxps.exe -sDEVICE=pdfwrite -sOutputFile=test.pdf -dNOPAUSE TIP.xps

The tool is attached below. Please enjoy it.
